The body of a dog found hanging from a tree in Jamestown was there all winter, according to police who announced an arrest.

Robert Overton Jr. is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, a felony.

The body of a brown and white pit bull was found Monday evening, hanging from a leash and a nylon rope, by a person walking through the area of Hallock and Palmer streets.

Police stated that the investigation determined that Overton, 47, hanged the dog from the tree in late November or early December.

Overtwon was taken to the city jail.
