Since Vontae Davis suddenly retired mid-game, the Bills (1-2) have only allowed nine points in six quarters. Compare that to the 75 points the team allowed through the first six quarters of the season and it’s been a marketable improvement.

The defense will need more of the same when they travel to Green Bay this week to face off against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers (1-1-1).

"I feel like the last six quarters were our brand of football, that's Buffalo Bills football," said safety Micah Hyde. "That's how we play. We attack on defense. The first six quarters? I can't answer that, but it's good to see we're making strides and getting better. As long as we keep progressing in the right direction, we'll be fine as a defense, fine as a team."

"You got to win your one-on-one matchups, that's what it always comes down to in this league," said linebacker Lorenzo Alexander. "You can carry that confidence and that swag from that game into this one that will allow you to have a little more juice, little more 'oomph' coming off the ball."

No one did more this past Sunday than linebacker Jerry Hughes, who recorded 10 quarterback pressures, a sack, and forced fumble. It was a reminder of the player who racked up 19-and-a-half sacks four-and-five years ago. Although Hughes himself was not as satisfied with his dominating performance as those who watched it

"I didn't get any sacks, I only had one sack really, one forced fumble," Hughes said. "So that's not even close to what I can really do. Pressures are cool, but those are just attempts. We play in a business where it's all about results, so I definitely want to get after the quarterback a lot more, force some more turnovers, help my team."

His team, though, sees far more than Hughes lets on.

"It's the way he prepares. He has a great regiment that people don't tend to see," Alexander said. "I'm one of the hardest workers on the team and I'm looking at him some days like 'man, you're working too hard.' And I like to work, so that's just his mindframe. He plays with a high motor, he doesn't take plays off. Any time you have a guy that talented, with that motor, it's going to be hard to block him for four quarters."

The next four quarters for are in Lambeau Field against Aaron Rodgers, who Hughes hit once in their last meeting back in 2014.
