DURHAM, N.C. — If you have a little aggression but great aim, the Bull City has a new spot for you.

  • Urban Axes allows guests to drink beer and throw axes
  • Owners say no one is allowed to throw while intoxicated
  • The bar will hold a soft opening Oct. 9 and a grand opening Oct. 12

Urban Axes is about to open soon on Foster Street. It's a bar where you can drink beer and throw axes.

“So the goal is to hit a bullseye, just like in darts. You each throw five axes. Then you tap axes and switch sides,” said co-owner Krista Paton.

But many are thinking what could possibly go wrong? Paton says there's nothing to worry about.

“No one is allowed to throw while intoxicated. A coach is with you the whole time. You are assessed for alcohol at several points through the process,” she adds.

Fences also border every station to catch those stray axes from people with bad aim. Coaches will also be on hand to supervise and teach patrons the axe-throwing process.

Urban Axes will hold a soft opening on Tuesday, Oct. 9 and a grand opening on Friday, Oct. 12.
