ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. -- Charges are pending against someone who officials say left hundreds of animals behind during Hurricane Florence.

  • Several dogs and horses were rescued Friday
  • Two days later, hundreds of other animals were rescued from a property on Skeeter Lane
  • An investigation is underway

The Robeson Co. sheriff says investigators and Global Canine Group rescued horses as well as several dogs.

Two days later, 400 animals were rescued alive, 35 died after being rescued and 300 were dead on a property on Skeeter Lane in Orrum, NC.

No word on who owned the animals, but an investigation is underway and charges are pending. 

The animals are being cared for by Carolina Water Fowl Rescue and the Robeson County Humane Society.
