RALEIGH, N.C. -- Governor Roy Cooper is standing with the state's Division of Motor Vehicles as they continue to address a multitude of issues.

  • Governor Cooper says the DMV is improving.
  • The NC DMV has had several issues this Summer.
  • Real ID and computer glitches are thought to be to blame.

On Thursday Governor Cooper stated, while the DMV needs to perform at a higher level, he believes they are continuously improving.

The division has dealt with extremely long wait times for customers this summer due to people getting their Real ID's and various technical glitches.

"I believe they are making significant strides that are going to improve DMV," Governor Cooper said Thursday. "The commissioner inherited a lot of problems and I think he is working hard to try to correct them."

The NC DMV released a list of proposed improvements recently that aim to cut down on long wait times for customers.
