FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- A man is behind bars after Fayetteville police say he stabbed his grandfather to death over the weekend.

  • Damar Dobbins was found covered in blood at a Marathon gas station.
  • George Dobbins was found dead at a home on Cranbrook Drive.
  • Damar Dobbins is being held without bond.

Officials say 31-year-old Damar Dobbins is charged with killing 72-year-old George Dobbins.         

The investigation started early Sunday morning when police responded to the Marathon gas station on Country Club Drive and Rosehill Road.

That's where they found Damar Dobbins covered in blood. 

Officers then went to the Dobbins' home in the 3300 block of Cranbrook Drive where they found George Dobbins dead.

Damar Dobbins is being held in the Cumberland County Jail without bond.
