RALEIGH, N.C. -- Kyron Hinton, who was seen on video being beaten by law enforcement in April, has filed a lawsuit against the North Carolina Dept. of Public Safety.
- Kyron Henton is suing NCDPS for $1 million after being beaten by officers in April.
- Hinton is suing for hospital bills, and damages for mental anguish and emotional distress.
- A video recording of the arrest has been released.
Hinton is suing the state for $1 million for medical bills and compensation/damages including, but not limited to, mental anguish and emotional distress.
Hinton says he suffered a fractured eye socket and broken nose when he was beaten by officers, and bitten more than 20 times by a K9, during an April 4 arrest involving Highway Patrol and Wake County sheriff's deputies.
The charges in this case were dropped against Hinton. Charges on three of the officers, however, are still pending.
