ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. -- Investigators are trying to figure out what exactly happened Monday morning when they found one person dead and another shot several times on Grant Drive in Roanoke Rapids.

  • When they arrived, they found 23-year-old Daquinn Blount, formerly of Roanoke Rapids, dead
  • They say they also found another victim who was shot several times and is now in critical condition at an emergency trauma center
  • Deputies have arrested 39-year-old Claude Celestine with possession with the intent to sell/deliver illegal substances

Halifax County Sheriff's Office says around 4 a.m. deputies were notified of a shooting.

When they arrived, they found 23-year-old Daquinn Blount, formerly of Roanoke Rapids, dead.

They say they also found another victim who was shot several times and is now in critical condition at an emergency trauma center.

Deputies have not released the victim's name or details of the shooting.

Deputies have arrested 39-year-old Claude Celestine with possession with the intent to sell/deliver illegal substances.
