  • He assisted in the birth of the child and provided "life saving measures."
  • Baby Achilles and his mother are now fine.

Monday morning, Sgt. W.C. Johnson was on Capital Boulevard near Highwoods Boulevard when he saw an SUV that had its flashers on in the median.

As he neared the stoplight, he saw the driver of the SUV waving for his help.

The woman told him that she needed his help and was having a baby.

Johnson assisted in the birth of the child, providing what Highway Patrol calls “life saving measures” until EMS and fire department officials arrived.

He remained on scene until she was taken from the scene and visited the mother and 7 lbs., 8 oz. baby Achilles at the hospital.
