The weekend will have a soggy start across central North Carolina.  One to three inches of rain is expected across much of the region from Friday afternoon through Saturday evening.  Locally higher amounts are possible.

With a saturated ground, off and on downpours could lead to flooding in some locations.  For that reason, the National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for much of the central North Carolina through Saturday night.

Drivers are encouraged to use extreme caution over the next couple of days.   Flooded roads can be deadly, as it only takes about a foot of moving water to float most cars, trucks, and SUVs.  It can be difficult to determine exactly how deep the water may be especially at night.

The heaviest rain over the next few days will come Friday evening and again during the day Saturday.  Scattered storms with locally heavy downpours are also possible on Sunday.  However, Sunday's showers and storms will not be as widespread.

The chance for scattered afternoon storms is also in the forecast most days next week.
