A taste of summer in the forecast as we head into Mother’s Day weekend.

Ample sunshine helped warm things up Friday afternoon as many of us saw highs in the upper 80s to around 90.

Saturday and Sunday should be a little hotter with highs in the low 90s. Saturday's record high for Raleigh stands at 95 from 1896. We should fall just short of that, but there is a very good chance that we'll at least tie a record high on Mother's Day which is 93, set back in 2000.

The chance for an isolated late afternoon or evening storm is just 20 percent each day through the weekend. The chance for afternoon storms will be higher from the middle to last half of next week.
