CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A popular Charlotte drop-in center for LGBTQ kids is having trouble keeping their "Life Essentials Closet" stocked.

The pantry at Time Out Youth offers free toiletries, undergarments, and more to those who find themselves homeless or living at or below poverty level.

"Times are hard. It's hard to find a space where you feel as safe and hard to find a space where things are accessible to you without having to pay something for it," said Salem Gathers.

Some of the major needs right now include ethnic hair care, deodorant, and full-sized body wash.

Time Out Youth's James Rice III said, “Knowing that a person who is living in a car, camping, or in the shelter system doesn’t have to worry about those things, that's essential to their self-respect, pride and dignity.”

The center is open for donations Monday through Friday, and also have a Wish List for pantry items on Amazon.
