HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. -- An 18-year-old is charged in an accident that left one person dead and two others hurt .

The wreck happened Tuesday on N.C. Highway 57 by New Sharon Church near Hillsborough.         

Troopers say an SUV ran a stop sign and struck an 18-wheeler killing a passenger in the SUV -- 51-year-old Shannon Talton, of Durham.

The SUV’s driver, 18-year-old Elizabeth Roush, has been charged with failure to stop at a stop sign and misdemeanor death by vehicle.

Two others hurt in the wreck are recovering in the hospital.
