Wednesday is the first full day of spring, but it certainly does not feel like it in North Carolina.

Snow fell off and on for much of the morning in the Triangle with little to no accumulation.  Light accumulations have been reported north of Raleigh in Durham.   One to two inches of snow collected on the grass around Roxboro through midday.

The snow showers will continue to gradually change into spotty rain showers through the afternoon.  Some spots north of the Triangle may continue to see some snow mixed in.

Only wet roads are expected for the afternoon rush hour with high temperatures in the upper 30s to upper 40s around the region.

The system producing snow and rain across North Carolina is on the back side of another Nor'easter moving up the east coast. Heavy snows will be possible through the day up the spine of the Appalachians to several major cities in the northeastern United States. In the North Carolina mountains, Boone should see around three to six inches of snow. Farther to our north, some locations near New York City could see up to a foot of snow.
