FAYETTEVILLE -- The man who Fayetteville police are calling their "priority number one" has now been taken off the streets.
Twenty-eight-year-old Genesis Whitted Jr. was sentenced to 35 years in prison.
It comes after a joint investigation involving the Fayetteville Police Department and the FBI.
Whitted was the leader of a violent, Bloods gang called "Addicted to Money.”
He's been convicted of serious crimes in Fayetteville including drug trafficking among other things.
"The defendant and his associates not only trafficked cocaine. They wreaked havoc on Fayetteville,” said Robin Pendergraft with the U.S. Attorney's Office. “They regularly committed violent home invasions, street robberies and kidnappings. Innocent people were often collateral damage to them."
Authorities say on two occasions Whitted and his accomplices poured boiling water on their victims until they gave information about the locations of drugs or money.
