LAURINBURG, N.C. – Friends and family of a fallen Scotland County sheriff’s deputy gathered Tuesday evening to pay their respects.
A visitation for 23-year-old Alexis “Thunder” Eagle Locklear was held at the Stewartsville Baptist Church in Laurinburg.
Funeral services for Locklear will begin at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Purnell Swett High School Gymnasium.
Locklear will be buried following the service at the Lumbee Memorial Gardens.
Locklear was killed Thursday evening in a crash while responding to another officer who was pursuing a suspect in a vehicle chase.
It happened on Old Wire Road near Arch Mclean Road in Wagram.
Locklear became a full time deputy last May.
He leaves behind a young daughter and other family members.
