TARBORO, N.C. -- The Veterans' Military Museum in Edgecombe County is closed because of an infestation of potentially rabid bats.    

Museum officials are asking any recent visitors to get in touch with the county health department.         

Health officials say there's a very small risk of exposure and not all bats carry rabies. However, they are considered a high-risk species for transmission.

A Facebook post says the facility is closed for maintenance issues.
