RALEIGH -- The Raleigh Police Department is seeking public assistance after an apparent road-rage-inspired shooting occurred on the Beltine on Friday night. 

Police say 22-year-old Alexus Thomas, of Durham, was shot and sent to the hospital when an assailant started shooting at her while driving on I-440 around 8 p.m.

The suspect is described as a white male driving a silver BMW SUV. There was also a white female passenger. 

911 calls indicate that the shooter became outraged when the two cars got onto the interstate and began shooting.
