CHAPEL HILL - Changes are coming to UNC’s campus today. Crews will remove the words “Saunders Hall” from the newly renamed Carolina Hall.
The Board of Trustees voted to rename the hall back in May after years of debate.
It was originally named after UNC graduate and former North Carolina Secretary of State William Saunders.
He served for the Confederacy during the Civil War and was a leader of the Ku Klux Klan.
