Joe Sink said he answered the front door of their home on West First Avenue where two suspects hit him, tied him up, and placed him in the bathroom. Elizabeth Sink said the suspects told her to gather money in the house before placing her in the bathroom.
She said the two were in the bathroom for about 15 minutes before pressing the police call button on their alarm system.
Sink said it could have been worse.
"I think it's really something that happened that is unfortunate, but at least it ended with nobody being seriously hurt," Joe Sink said.
A neighbor said it was an uncommon incident for the street.
"This is a very quiet, low crime neighborhood. Nothing like this has every happened before around here," Ed Hinkle said.
Police said no suspects have been identified and ask anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 336-243-2400 or the police department.
