After a sunny and chilly wrap to the weekend, clouds will be on the increase tonight. However, more clouds will mean milder temperatures even though lows will still fall to near freezing for most.

A large rain storm will track into the Carolinas on Monday. In the Triad, rain is expected to develop by the afternoon. After that, rain will continue to increase in coverage and intensity through the evening and overnight. In fact, periods of heavy rain are possible Monday night with rain totals potentially reaching over 2 inches in spots. So, be on the look out for flooding as you travel around the region, especially Monday night.

Clouds and spotty showers will linger for Tuesday and Wednesday. Then, another rain storm could impact the region by Thursday. This storm may also lead to flooding rains for the region. Now, the upcoming weekend does appear dry. That said, another shot of cold air seems likely by Saturday morning!
