GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Cold Canadian High Pressure will settle in over the region tonight.

  • Clear skies and light winds expected
  • Lows in mid 20s by Sunday morning
  • Sunshine and chilly for Sunday

As a result, clear skies and light winds are expected, and that combination will lead very cold temperatures.  In fact, lows should fall into the middle 20s by Sunday morning for the first time this season.  So, protect any plants that are sensitive to the cold weather.

After a very cold morning, sunshine and chilly weather is on tap for Sunday afternoon.  Meanwhile, a strengthening storm system will gather along the Gulf Coast and that will lead to increaseing clouds by later Sunday afternoon.

Now, that same storm system is expected to track across the Carolinas Monday and Tuesday.  Rounds of rain will likely accompany this system and could be heavy at times.  Rain will spread in by Monday afternoon and then continue well into Tuesday.  Chilly temps will accompany the rain, but temps will stay above freezing.  So, winter weather issues are not anticipated at this time.
