MEBANE, N.C. -- State leaders say early assessments suggest billion dollar losses for the state's agriculture industry.

  • The Farm Bureau spent $5,000 dollars to purchase supplies
  • They're sending hay, feed, and cleaning supplies
  • They plan on sending more supplies in October

Farmers in Alamance County have organized to get as many supplies as possible to farms down east in need. They're sending hay, feed, and cleaning supplies they know farmers need right now. They plan on sending more in October.

"Next month we're hoping, as the water recedes, they can get a better idea of what they actually need,” Ryan Copeland with Alamance County’s Young Farmers and Ranchers said. “We can put this much together to take and get them some more help."

The Farm Bureau spent $5,000 dollars to purchase supplies that they are sending to Duplin County, but also received many donated items.
