HIGH POINT, N.C. -- A man is in jail after police say he exposed a High Point police officer to heroin while trying to run away.

  • Cheyenne Transeau faces charges of resisting arrest, drug possession and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill
  • He tried to swallow a large amount of heroin just before police were going to search him
  • Another officer tackled him to prevent him from ingesting it but the heroin went into his face

Cheyenne Transeau, 24, faces charges of resisting arrest, drug possession and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

Police say Transeau was caught for shoplifting at the Walmart on North Main Street Saturday.

He tried to swallow a large amount of heroin just before police were going to search him.

Another officer tackled him to prevent him from ingesting it but the heroin went into his face.

The officer was given two doses of the reversal drug Narcan when he began feeling the effects.

In all, three officers were treated at the hospital and released.

Transeau is being held under a $750,000 bond.
