GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A warm weather setup remains in place around the Carolinas, but overall, we could do a lot worse considering the time of year.

  • Wednesday will feature a lot of sunshine.
  • Next storm system will arrive closer to Friday.
  • Scattered showers should be expected over weekend.

Look for highs this afternoon in the 88-90 degree range for most places, and our Wednesday is featuring lots of sunshine. A couple of isolated showers or storms remain possible, but the chance of rain in any one spot is very small.

For Thursday, highs will edge up into the lower 90s. Once again, a couple of late-day storms are possible, but most folks will remain dry.

Our next storm system will get closer to us Friday, and that will result in a better chance of some afternoon storms.

I still expect a good amount of scattered showers and storms over the weekend, especially focused during the afternoon and evening hours.

TROPICS

A subtropical system has formed in the northern Atlantic Ocean. This system has that 'subtropical' designation because it lacks all of the characteristics of a pure tropical system.

Regardless, this system will head northeastward over the open north Atlantic waters, only impacting shipping lanes through the weekend. Eventually, it might wind up impacting Europe as a remnant low pressure area next week.
