GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The recently reported truck driver shortage in the country is affecting carriers' rights in the Triad.

  • One local company says every now and then they have to wait
  • Other companies say the are definitely seeing the effect
  • Some companies are using incentives like signing bonuses and holiday pay to retain and attract new drivers

One local company says they have over 200 drivers, so shipping times aren't really affected but every now and then they have to wait.

"It has impacted us occasionally when we have to wait for a driver catch up on their hours so they could go out on their next trip," said truck driver Allen Fitzgerald.

Other companies say the are definitely seeing the effect in Greensboro.

"We are feeling it more so in the last six months to a year than in the previous years," said Allen Fitzgerald.

Some companies are using incentives like signing bonuses and holiday pay to retain and attract new drivers.
