The National Weather Service issued a full report on the Greensboro tornado Monday evening. The report confirms that an EF2 tornado with winds up to 135 mph occurred in Greensboro and NE Guilford County. The report indicates the tornado initially touched down on the north side of I-40 near Willow Rd. The tornado then remained on the ground for over 33 miles including a 17-mile path through Rockingham County.

The tornado's peak intensity occurred in the Hampton community, near Hampton Elementary school. Here, the tornado reached maximum wind speeds near 135 mph and a width of about 1/4 of a mile.

Significant damage occurred along the path of the twister including completely destroyed buildings, uprooted trees and snapped power poles. Numerous injuries were reported and along with one death that occurred to the west of the tornado track.
