DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. -- Cyber security experts are warning cities and 911 communications to brace themselves.
After multiple ransomware attacks across the US, many municipalities have to protect everything, including 911 systems.
From large metropolitan areas like Atlanta to even small rural areas like Davidson County, companies like KnowBe4 are saying any system could be compromised.
“These guys have no ethics,” says KnowBe4 CEO Stu Sjouwerman. “They will go after 911 centers, they will go after churches, school districts are also very popular targets.”
Davidson county officials say it took them a week to get their systems back up and running.
They are already planning on spending more money next year on cyber security.
