PILOT MOUNTAIN, N.C. -- A teen hiker is recovering after a weekend fall at Pilot Mountain. Though the park sees several accidents over the course of a season, the park superintendent, Matt Windsor, says they won't be adding any more signs.

They worry by doing so it could over-saturate the trails and cause people to ignore them.

"In the grand scale of things we have very few accidents but we still have some,” Windsor said. “But we basically provide warning signage that just lets people know, 'Hey there are natural hazards present' even though it's easy to get to and we leave it up to the visitors and their judgment whether they decide to explore further."

Windsor adds that each year at least eight people are transported to the hospital from their park from something as small as a fall to falling several feet.
