WINSTON-SALEM, NC. -- Forbes is out with a list of 14 cities they believe would be a great home base for Amazon's second headquarters. Along with Atlanta and Austin, you'll find Winston-Salem.
The publication says the city is low cost of living and has the labor pool ready. Winston-Salem's Mayor Allen Joines doesn't think HQ2 will ultimately call the Twin City home but says the list is will help other businesses find the triad.
“If a company is looking for relocation and they happen to look at this list from a technology stand point,” Joines says. “Come to Winston-Salem very low cost to doing business, good labor pool. You know you have 30 college and universities within a pretty close radius of the city."
The city sent in a regional proposal with Greensboro and High Point for the headquarters. Joines says since that time about 40 businesses have expressed an interest in locating in the Twin City.
