BOONE, N.C. -- Almost a week after flooding in Boone left cars, homes, and businesses destroyed, residents are fighting the rain once again while trying to figure out where to start picking up the pieces.

"We're nervous," says Boone resident, Beatrix Lopez. "Last week was so bad so I'm expecting it to be the same again."

Her fear is being echoed around town. But now residents have another concern, snow.

On Sunday meteorologists are predicting that Boone could see its first snow of the year.

Although accumulation is not expected, traffic problems are a primary concern.

This especially worrying for the town because as long as the roads are wet, they cannot be salted.

"It would wash away," says county maintenance engineer, Kevin Whittington. “We will be monitoring it and making sure our equipment is ready”

The Department of Transportation is urging residents to be mindful.
