DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. -- Davidson County officials are weighing the possibility of adding a new ABC Store somewhere in the county.

They are in the first phase of the new study in which they are taking a look at the population and income demographics that would support a potential store.

With two ABC Stores in Lexington, and one in Thomasville, county officials want to make sure any new store won't take away business from any of the existing locations.

"We can't just put one anywhere for the sake of putting it there,” said Davidson County Commissioner Lance Barrett. “We have to put it there and know that it's going to be successful financially -- make money -- and it has to be a location that won't hurt our partners in Davidson County."

County officials say they aren't in any rush to add another ABC Store and will take their time to complete the study.
