ZEBULON, N.C. -- A once a decade tournament is set to thrill baseball fans as the 2018 Carolina League All-Star Classic swings its way into the Tar Heel State. Some of the best playes in Minor League Baseball from a number of different teams are joining forces for a fun evening of great play.

Spectrum News anchor Caroline Blair sat down with the Carolina Mudcat's Assistant General Manager Eric Gardner for a look at all the action they’re set to host. Gardner says they’ve been hard at work preparing for this special day, their first opportunity to host the classic since 2011. 

The game will feature all-stars from all across the Carolina League, including the following players: 

Carolina Mudcats: Marcos Diplán (pitcher), Cam Roegner (pitcher), Max McDowell (catcher), Tucker Neuhaus (infielder), Trey Supak* (pitcher) and Keston Hiura* (infielder)
Winston-Salem Dash: Dylan Cease (pitcher), Bernardo Flores (pitcher), Matt Foster (pitcher), Luis Alexander Basable (outfielder), Joel Booker (outfielder)

But there’s so much more to the classic than just the play on the field.  Made famous on America’s Got Talent, Zooperstars and BirdZerk will entertain the crowd and country mega artist Jason Michael Carooll will sing the national anthem. 

Meanwhile, the team will auction off autographed game worn jerseys, giving the proceeds to The Miracle League of the Triangle.  But the fun doesn’t stop there, about 24 players from the Miracle League, will fill Five County Stadium to showcase their baseball skills.  Carolina League players will team up with their buddies, and participate in their own game for fans to enjoy.  The Mudcats have been proud sponsors of the Miracle League for 10 years now.  And $5 of every ticket purchased with the code “MLT2018” will benefit the Miracle League of the Triangle.
