RALEIGH -- The culture of more than a dozen countries from all over the world, is being celebrated by the masses in the Tar Heel state this weekend.  Spectrum News anchor Caroline Blair sat down with the festival organizer, Bearta AlChacar, for a glimpse at this weekends fun.

In recent years, North Carolina has really become a hub international business and is now a melting pot of different cultures from all over the world.  According to the US Census Bureau, 13 percent of the population in Raleigh is foreign born.  So organizers decided to celebrate the melting pot of cultures through a street block party style free festival.

The Raleigh International Food Festival will celebrate food from more than 15 countries including Italy, Hungry, Brazil and Sweden.  And they will also celebrate beer and wine from many other countries.  They will also offer Bollywood, Salsa, Samba, Chinese, Brazilian and belly dancing performances.  Also taking the stage will be Peter DjUniq Gumaer at 6:20pm and Reggae Band Crucial Fiya at 9pm.

The festival is free and open to the public, and will also feature family friendly fun including sidewalk chalk drawing, face painting, giant bubbles, kids dance lessons, and relay games.  The fun runs from 3pm to 10pm at City Plaza.
