RALEIGH, N.C. -- Kids in the Triangle are now able to get up close and personal with some of their favorite trucks that they may have as a toy or see out in the community.  The Junior League of Raleigh will hosting their third annual 'Touch a Truck' fundraiser as a fun learning experience for the whole family.

Held at the Spring Hill Lot near Dortheat Dix Park in Raleigh, the event is for kids of all ages and interest, showing off construction equipment, emergency trucks, big rigs and mobile machinery. Children will get to climb and explore the trucks, as well as speak with some of Wake County’s finest drivers, operators and first responders.

What’s extra special to Junior League members, is that proceeds from 'Touch a Truck' will benefit their BackPack Buddies program, which feeds kids from food-insecure families in Wake County.  Junior League of Raleigh president Marisa Bryant says they’ve expanded their work with the program and are now serving even more children, meaning their need to raise funding is extra important right now.

The 2018 'Touch a Truck' fundraiser is taking place on Saturday, April 14th from 10am- 2pm at 701 Barbour Drive in downtown Raleigh. The Junior Leagues announced that a “quiet hour with no lights, sirens or horns” will kick off the event and last for the first hour.
