RALEIGH— It’s the second leading cause of cancer death among men and women combined, with colon cancer claiming more than 50,000 lives each year.  Cancer can strike anyone, anytime, even those we see on TV.

Spectrum News anchor Caroline Blair sat down with Harry Connick Jr., for a look at his wife Jill’s brush with cancer, and how that led him to become an advocate for early colon cancer detection.

Connick Jr. says Jill credits early detection for saving her life, and she’s now embarking on 5 years since battling the disease.  The couple are now urging early detection in those 50 and up,  to help save lives.  To learn more about the campaign they’re involved in, visit New50.

Harry Connick Jr. also plans to hit the road again soon with his music, but right now, he’s preparing for an upcoming Broadway show.  To follow the actor and musician, visit his Twitter, Instagram and Facebook pages.
