The Tampa Bay Lightning have picked up right where they left off last season, as the Eastern Conferences top team with one of the NHL's top offenses.

Can you imagine trying to crack this Lightning roster as rookie?. Mathieu Joseph was one of those rookies entering training camp this season with the Lightning.

"I was looking at the lineup coming into the season and I was like oh my, there is not alot of room on this team"

Joseph was a fifth round draft pick of the Lightning in 2015 and a long shot to make a squad that returned almost every player from last years post-season roster, but intimated, he was not.

"I'm just trying to go where the coach is putting me and adapt to whatever line I am on"

The 21 year old Quebec native impressed head coach Jon Cooper and General Manager Julien Brisebois with his speed and versatility.

"It doesn't matter what line we put him on, said Cooper, they performed and now they are starting to get some points"

Joseph scored his first NHL goal in Ottawa in his 14th NHL game, he then went on to score three goals over the next three games, including his first two goal game against, believe it or not Ottawa, a week later at Amalie Arena.

Joseph is a superstitious guy, he has worn the number seven since he was in junior hockey, his father and brother also have worn the number 7. To take it a step further, Mathieu religiously does things that end in the number seven, like wake up at 6:47 am and take a one hour and thirty-seven minute power nap before games.

As the youngest player on the Lightning roster, the ceiling is high for this Tampa Bay rookie and he lives by a simple motto.

" I think you have to have the attitude, one shift, one game at a time, and I think it can pay off".
