WILLARD, N.C. -- "Cleaning fish off the road" is not typically in the job description for a volunteer firefighter, but that's exactly what the firemen from the Penderlea Fire Department in Willard did Saturday morning.

Hoses in hand, crews sprayed dead fish off of I-40, which has been under water and littered with debris for much of the past week following Hurricane Florence.

Pictures show hundreds of fish lying off the shoulder of the interstate once the clean up was finished.
