NORTH CAROLINA -- A rare megalodon tooth was found off the coast of Wrightsville Beach on Tuesday.

The prehistoric find was discovered by a coastal couple as they were walking along the beach shore near Access 28.

The couple says they plan to keep the tooth and purchase a shadow box to put it in.

The tooth was measured at 4 inches long and estimated to be up to 2.6 million years old.
