NEAR BALD HEAD ISLAND, N.C. – There was a scary situation aboard a barge headed for Bald Head Island Monday morning.

• Truck was heading to Bald Head Island.
• Cab of the truck fell into the river.
• Coast Guard was called into assist.    

The cab of a tractor-trailer fell partially overboard into the Cape Fear River just before 11 a.m.         

The Coast Guard was sent to monitor the situation and get the people out of the cab of the trailer.

At last report, the barge was tied at a marina in Southport with the truck still hanging off.         

The barge company is trying to figure out how to get the entire truck back onto the barge safely.
