No rest for the air conditioner or your electric bill this weekend as hot weather will continue into the start of the work week.

Highs temperatures for Saturday and Sunday will peak in the low to mid 90s across eastern North Carolina and with the humidity it will feel more like 100 to 105. The sea breeze will hold highs highs along the coast in the upper 80s. Be sure to drink plenty of water to keep hydrated, take breaks, and make sure pets have plenty of shade and fresh water.

Warm muggy nights will be the rule with morning lows only briefly dropping into the 70s around day break.

Isolated storms are possible during the late afternoon and evening hours this weekend and any storms that form could be strong with gusty winds, frequent lightning and heavy downpours.

A break from the heat and humidity is in the forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday as temperatures return to normal levels.
