WILMINGTON. N.C. -- An off-duty Wilmington police officer who tried to stop a domestic dispute ended up being dragged by a car. 

  • Emin Eminof is charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon on an officer.
  • Off-duty officer was aiding a woman who said her boyfriend assaulted her.
  • The officer has not been named.  

It happened in the 3500 block of Oleander Drive Sunday evening.

Police have not identified the officer yet but say he was approached by a woman who was being chased by her boyfriend in a car.

The officer showed his badge 21-year-old Emin Eminof and ordered him to show his hands. However, police say the Eminof did not comply with orders.

Instead he began searching in the center console of his car.

The officer displayed his weapon and tried to get into the passenger side of the car and that's when police say Eminof drove off.

The officer managed to hold onto the car for a short distance before he fell off. He suffered only minor injuries.

Eminof faces several charges including felony assault with a deadly weapon on an officer.

At last report, he was being held at the New Hanover County Jail under a $45,000 bond.
