WILMINGTON, N.C. -- More that 50 people in New Hanover County met on UNC Wilmington's campus Tuesday night to learn the results from Genx tests.

Back in November professors from NC State began testing how the chemical GenX could affect the human body.

Volunteers with the Cape Fear River Watch collected water samples from nearly 200 homes.

The test results show that levels of GenX and other chemicals are still showing up in their water.

One resident says she was shocked to see GenX is still in the water she drinks, but she is glad to see researchers continue to inform them of the chemical and their other findings.

"But here we all are, doing things we never imagined fighting a water crisis, you know? And I'm really proud of our community," said Wilmington resident Beth Markesino.

Researchers say they should have the results from the blood and urine samples collected in November by the end of the summer.
