BUXTON, N.C. -- After about a month out-of-service, the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is now up and running again.

The Cape Hatteras National Seashore took to social media over the weekend to thank the U.S. Coast Guard for fixing the mechanical issue that knocked the light out of commission.

Officials say the light went dark in mid-January after a storm damaged the machinery.

Modern ships use GPS so the outage didn't cause any navigational issues.
