SOUTH CAROLINA -- A South Carolina man is recovering after being bitten by something in the ocean, possibly a shark, during a morning swim.

Georgetown County Sheriff's Office Beach Patrol were called to DeBordieu, South Carolina, south of Myrtle Beach, at 8:53 a.m. after reports that a man sustained a bite to his left foot.

According to police, the man did not see what bit him, but was able to kick his foot free and swim to shore.

The man suffered a four-inch laceration and puncture wounds. He was taken to Georgetown Memorial Hospital and is receiving treatment.
