CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- It's back to school season. Which means it's back to the phyisican season if your child isn't up to date on immunizations.
The Mecklenburg County Health Department wants parents to know:
- Put immunizations on your back to school list
- The State requires certain vaccines before entering kindergarten and again before entering 7th grade
- When children are not vaccinated, they are at increased risk for diseases and can also spread diseases to others in their classrooms and community
- Children learn best when they are focused and healthy, getting vaccinated makes this easy not just for your child but for the classroom, the school and the community
- Children can be excluded from school if they are not vaccinated.
- You can get the vaccines from your provider, at most pharmacies, and public health is offering two clinics that are open to the public:
- Saturday Sept 8, 2018 8 am to 5 pm (Beatties Ford Road Health Department)
- Saturday Sept 15, 2018 8 am to 5 pm (Billingsley Road Health Department)
- Please bring your child’s immunization record, personal ID, proof of insurance, Medicaid or Medicare and proof of income (W-2 form or pay check stub)
- Visit meckhealth.org for more information.
There is an Hepatitis A outbreak among adults in Mecklenburg County. The back to school clinics will offer Hepatitis A vaccines as well.
