WILMINGTON—Lennon Lacy’s mother Claudia shared more information about his death on Monday.

The 17 year old was found hanging from a swing set on Aug. 29. Originally, authorities ruled his death a suicide, but now the FBI is involved in the investigation. Claudia hops the FBI’s investigation will bring justice to her son’s death.

"It shouldn't be about where your social status is, what your financial status or where you live at, or the color of your skin... justice should be served equally. Just like the Constitution says, 'Equal rights, justice for all,' they should follow the platform that started this country and it's not being done,” she said.

Claudia said she will never forget the moment she learned her son Lennon had died.

“My son was in a body bag, laying on a stretcher... zipped down to his shoulders,” she said.

Since her son was found hanging from a swing set at a Bladenboro mobile home park, Claudia said she has not been able to heal.

“I can't start healing until I get the answers to the questions that are out there,” she said.

Claudia said she believes foul play was involved.

“I said to myself I knew he didn't do this to himself...whoever did this it took more than one person to take him down,” she said.

Nearly five days after Lennon Lacy died, Claudia said the SBI ruled her son’s death a suicide.

“That was before I even got the autopsy report,” she said.

With looming questions and help of the NAACP, now Lennon Lacy’s suspicious death investigation is also in the FBI’s hands.

“This is ongoing, again the case has never been closed...it is now being enhanced by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and together, we have put together a process that represents the best possibility of seeking truth,” said District Attorney Jon David.

With more than a dozen mobile homes in the area around the wooden swing set where Lennon was found, Claudia questions whether anyone saw anything suspicious on Aug. 29.

“I just don't understand how you could not just see something,” she said.

Claudia also said her son was found wearing shoes a size and a half too small, and they weren't the grey Air Jordan shoes she last saw him in. She also did not recognize the belts he was hanging from.

“They were not his, neither were the shoes. I could not identify them,” she said.

While there are still many unanswered questions, Claudia is certain she will continue fighting on faith.

"That's all I have right now is my faith because of the circumstances of this case,” she said.

District Attorney Jon David said the are still taking new leads in Lennon Lacy’s death investigation.
