What You Need To Know

  • The Greatest Baker is a national competition organized by "Cake Boss" Buddy Valastro

  • Greensboro baker Bailee Sivley has made it to the final 8 of the contest

  • Sivley hopes to win the $10,000 prize to expand her business

The Greatest Baker competition is organized by Buddy Valastro, who stars in "Cake Boss” on TLC Network and offers a $10,000 prize.

Bailee Sivley says that out of the 12,000 people who submitted to enter the contest, she has made it to the top eight.

“I just thought it was a great opportunity to show my skills and get to compete to win a prize. If I’m able to win that prize, I can use it to expand my business which I’m looking forward to," Sivley said.

Sivley started baking in 2020 during the pandemic and, in 2023, went on to launch her business, Baking by Bailee.

She says her passion comes from seeing other people enjoying her desserts.

“Being able to share joy with people really is what it is," she said. “Desserts seem like something simple, but it’s pretty cool to be able to take basic ingredients and create something beautiful that brings happiness and joy into people’s lives."

Proceeds from the contest go to the Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation, which supports families of children with cancer.

Voting is free and ends Feb. 1.
