WILMINGTON, N.C. -- A big storm system is rolling into the Carolinas, and that system will produce a major winter storm over central and western parts of North Carolina.

For our area, rain continues to advance in from the south with time Saturday, and a cold, soaking rain is on the way Sunday night into tomorrow.

Enough cold air gets involved with the system for some sleet and snow to be possible in the far western parts of our viewing area. A couple inches of accumulation are possible there, but for most of us, this is just a cold rain event.

Showers will remain quite possible through Monday before drier and eventually warmer air returns later next week.
