North Carolina leaders react to the death of John McCain

NORTH CAROLINA -- Several local leaders have released statements reacting to the tragic death of Arizona senator John McCain.

Among those who spoke were NC Senators Thom Tillis and Richard Burr, Governor Roy Cooper and Congresswoman Alma S. Adams.

America has lost John McCain – a true titan of the Senate who was one of our nation’s greatest war heroes and public servants. He will be long remembered for his principled leadership, courage, grit, and always putting country first.

In 2017, the six-term senator announced he had been diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain tumor. On Friday, his family announced he was discontinuing treatment.
